Social Media Posts and Awareness

Dear Lockport Township High School District 205 Parents and Guardians,

Along with the Lockport Police Department, we are aware today that additional social media posts, similar to those that appeared over the weekend and threatened school violence, are circulating online. Please be assured that every day we come to school with safety on our minds. We continue to work closely with the Lockport Police Department to assess any situation that has been brought to our attention.

If you or your child sees a threatening post on social media, please do not repost or reshare the post. We ask that you take a screenshot of the threatening post and report it in the following ways:

  1. Parents, students, and staff can direct their concern(s) to a school administrator, law enforcement,  and/or a school staff member.

  2. Parents, students, and staff can use the CrisisGo app found on our district website to report a tip/concern about these social media posts.

Re-posting social media threats can cause unnecessary alarm and detract from valuable law enforcement and school resources needed for investigations. Also, please be aware of our commitment to transparency. We understand that you are a vital partner in school safety. If we ever became aware of a credible school threat or the potential of such a threat, we would inform you as soon as it is safe and possible to do so.

As always, the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We thank our parents, students, and staff who continue communicating with us and reporting their concerns.

All the best,

Robert McBride, Ed.D
