Community Service

Community Service Requirement

Lockport Township High School District 205 students should complete no less than 40 hours of community service to graduate. Students transferring into the district should complete five hours of community service per full semester of enrollment within Lockport Township High School District 205. It is recommended that students complete 10 hours per year of enrollment. Mid-Year Graduates are not exempt from this policy.

Lockport Township High School District 205 community service is defined as follows:

  • Activities that benefit the school, a not-for-profit entity that serves the community or individual in need.

  • Activities will not be approved when students earn wages or when students volunteer and others earn wages for the same role.

  • Students may not earn community service credit for activities that directly benefit a family member.

  • Community service activities not related to school-based volunteering must take place during non-school hours.

Non-profit or governmental organizations wishing to offer LTHS students volunteer opportunities may email the Guidance Department.

SchooLinks is our new college and career planning resource for students and is also where students can log their community service hours. LTHS requires students to complete 40 hours of community service as a graduation requirement. We encourage students to complete and log their hours as soon as possible. There will be raffles this year for students who complete and log their community service hours, including free tickets to our Homecoming Dance in September, TWIRP dance in February, and gift cards throughout the year to our very own L-Town Grounds coffee shop!

Paper forms are no longer accepted. Questions regarding Community Service can be directed at 815-588-8350.
