LTHS is happy to always partner with parents to provide the best educational experience for our students. This includes partnering on encouraging students to read for pleasure and enrichment. As such, we have adopted a set of guidelines to support parents in feeling comfortable with their student’s use of our Port: Library Media Information Center. 

Parents' Rights and Responsibilities

1. Talk with your student about the books they are reading or ones that might interest them.

2. Search our library database to see if we have books that you think may interest your student. Anyone can search our library’s catalog by going to the main LTHS website page, clicking on the tab that says “I am a student” and then scrolling to the bottom and clicking on the icon that reads “Find a Book.”

3. Reach out to one of our library media specialists via email or phone with any questions:

4. Review the District Guidelines for selecting materials for the library at this link. 

5. The District acknowledges that not everyone will agree with every selection made. If there is a specific book that you wish your student to not check out, please email the appropriate building principal. The building principal will respond to your request and let you know when the block has been placed on your student’s account.

6. Contact the building principal if you would like to review the books your student has checked out from the library during the current school year.
