Aug 27 Heat Precautions

Dear Lockport Township High School District 205 Parents and Guardians,

We are paying close attention to the excessive heat watch on Tuesday, August 27, and we are prioritizing student and staff safety. At this time, there is no change in school operations for Tuesday, August 27, 2024, and there will be no changes to the bell schedule.

As for Athletics, we are aware of athletic changes and parents of student-athletes can feel free to communicate with coaches and our athletic office for specifications or if you have any questions.

Curriculum Night: We are on track to hosting Curriculum Night at Central Campus on Wednesday, August 28, and Thursday, August 29 at East Campus. For more information, visit the LTHS website at https://www.lths.org/page/curriculum-night.

Based on the National Weather Service for Will County and other surrounding counties, an Excessive Heat Watch is in effect for Tuesday, August 27 from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening with dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of 110 to 115 possible. This is the hottest air that we've experienced so far this summer and this heat wave is not expected to last more than two days.

We are asking parents to partner with us in closely monitoring and taking the following precautions.

Please monitor our communications. We will be sending out communications via email and the LTHS website.

Encourage your child to hydrate and bring their water bottles with them to school.

Encourage your child to reach out and speak to an adult about any heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority. Stay cool and take care!
