LTHS offers a unique opportunity for students as they transition from 8th grade to high school. Fresh Start introduces incoming freshman to the staff and their peers. They're able to make friends and learn valuable skills that will ease their anxiety and get them off to a successful start.
The Fresh Start program is divided into four sections:
STUDY SKILLS - Students will learn about a variety of skills that will help them across subjects. This will include topics for organization, reading skills, digital literacy, and more.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT - Students will learn about different life skills that will help them with a positive, healthy lifestyle. This will include stress management, healthy eating, relationships, and more.
REFLECTIONS - Students will learn about themselves as learners. This will include goal setting, learning styles, fixed vs. growth mindset, and more.
RECREATION - Students will learn about different ways to maintain physical fitness.
Students will also participate in other aspects of freshman life such as getting accustomed to the building and lockers, exposure to LTHS athletics and activities, and peer interaction.
