Guidance Counselors are available to assist students with resources to prepare for college entrance exams. Registration for the ACT is done through the ACT website. Registration for the SAT and PSAT is done through CollegeBoard. Information about dates, deadlines, test sites, and scores is available at these sites.

Practice ACT for Juniors
UPDATE on February 18, 2025: Tomorrow, Wednesday, February 19, junior students will not take the PreACT. All junior students should follow their regular Wednesday late start arrival and bus times.
In preparation for our rescheduled PreACT test for tomorrow, February 19, we experienced an unexpected complication with ACT Inc. During our final systems check this afternoon, we discovered that the passcodes that ACT provided for our students did not work. We immediately contacted a Senior Director at ACT, who then worked with the ACT Operations team to troubleshoot the problem.
Unfortunately, ACT was not able to provide passcodes in a timely fashion for students that would work for testing tomorrow. Therefore, we are canceling the PreACT test scheduled for tomorrow. With this uncertainty, we do not wish further inconvenience to students, families, or staff members. As a result of this change, juniors will have a regular late start day tomorrow, February 19, 2025.
We will continue to work closely with ACT and plan to contact educational leaders at the state level to advocate for improvements and ensure a better testing experience in April—for both our students and all students across the state.
We appreciate your patience and understanding. Please know that we are committed to keeping you informed.
Financial Aid
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the form families need to fill out to get any financial aid from the federal government to help pay for college. Several states and colleges also use the FAFSA to determine which students get financial aid and how much they'll get. Illinois requires graduating high school seniors to complete the FAFSA.
College & Career Visits
Campus visits offer students the opportunity to see firsthand colleges' facilities, equipment, and housing, meet staff, talk to current students, and get answers to their questions. LTHS also hosts a number of campus callers during the school day.
Essays & Scholarships
In December, the Guidance Office posts a number of scholarships that are offered by the Community and the LTHS Foundation. It's important for seniors to apply early and meet the application deadlines.
Scholarships applications can be found in SchooLinks
School Records
Beginning with the Class of 2023 official transcripts should be ordered through their SchooLinks account, Students should contact their Counselors with any questions. Any Alumni before the Class of 2023 will still use Parchment. Other permanent records can be requested through the Registrar's Office.
Other Post-Secondary Options
Not every career requires college! Here are links to Local Unions/Apprenticeships and Military options for students considering these options.
